i'm excited about the new books i bought in ukiah. finally, a copy of phillip pullman's golden compass. i've been hearing such raves about the "his dark materials" series, but it's taken me a while to pick it up. also, barry unsworth's morality play, which i've been looking for because (this is gonna sound so lame) they've made a movie out of it with willem dafoe and paul bettany. also, portrait of mrs. charbuque (sp?) by jeffrey ford, which some good souls over at fametracker recommended ages ago. books for my trip! yay!

a week and a half before i leave . . .

random musing: does anyone else find it disturbing that the first trailer for tomb raider 2 had "smack my bitch up" as a soundtrack?

i agree: the beats are great. someone told me a week or so ago that they thought it was actually about drugs. not being a big prodigy fan, i have no idea if this is true.
