Feb. 3rd, 2004 04:28 pmfirst day of class - i think it's going to be an interesting semester. i was a bit uneasy about "self & other," but it's about time i took a philosophy class (first reading assignment - plato's symposium), and some of the race stuff we'll be doing at the end of the semester might help my thesis.
as expected, i'm sure i'll love "lust & aggression." our first reading assignment is isabel allende's aphrodite, and we have to watch monster before next week. the bust guide to the new girl order is one of our textbooks.
tomorrow i have my modern & postmodern survey course. the department and my fellow students seem to be evenly divided as to whether or not this is a total waste of time for an AH grad, but since i didn't have the opportunity to do even a bit of postmodern history in undergrad, i think it'll do me a lot of good. plus, it's supposed to be really easy, which would be great, since my reading load for the other two classes is pretty heavy.
tonight, the boy and i are going to see two moliere comedies - compliments of his new job. he gets to see all of his company's productions for free, including lorraine bracco in the graduate, which i am REALLY looking forward to.
