movies -

the eyes of tammy faye - pretty good, though i'd been expecting a bit more, due to all the hype. still, the puppet-intros and montages of self-delusion are well worth it.

hell house - not quite as horrifying as watching it for the first time (the AIDS/homosexuality stuff and the abortion death really make me afraid for humanity), but still fascinating.

happiness of the katakuris - i was a bit wary of this one, partly because i couldn't watch the last 20 minutes of audition, and i was somewhat expecting this to be another miike gore-fest. it's not. it's a musical. with claymation. and flying. kind of a bollywood meets high school production of west side story meets shallow grave vibe. rent it now!

I was pretty disappointed with Hell House overall. It had a few moments here and there.

My favorite part was when they were getting ready to open their doors to the public and were running around frantically, talking to each other on walkie talkies ---- "Yes, Jim? Could you go to Hell and get The Knife?" hee!

oh, the off-duty cop is so gonna get it one of these days - teaching gun safety 5 minutes before show time? riiiiight.

you know that this is the only outlet any of these people have to be at all anti-social or aggressive. scary.

The puppets creeped me out, personally. Funny, but creepy.
