saw the human stain yesterday. amazing performances, especially kidman, but rather disjointed, structurally, and missing tons of details that were important to the story. still, i think the writer & director did as well as anyone possibly could in translating the book into a film. supervisor boy went with me, and he liked it a lot, without having read the book.

as i remember it, it's basically the same, though they add a short shot or two right after the confrontation, kind of a flashback to happier times . . .
