*big nerd warning*

i talked to my dad the other night, and he brought up an interesting point re. return of the king - compared to the other two films, there's virtually NO previews/advertisements for this one. it opens in a little over a week, and i have seen not ONE television ad. there are a few bilboards/posters up in chicago, but so far that's about it. seriously, the extended dvd version of two towers has gotten more press than what i've heard will be the best film of the trilogy.

could matrix-itis have set in? or am i not looking in the right places?

I haven't really noticed any ads for it either, only some ads for the video game version. Hey, maybe they're trying on purpose not to annoy the hell out of everyone with ads! Wouldn't that be great?

I think you are right, although I don't see how ROTK could be any worse/better than the first two considering they were all filmed at the same time. I chalk it up to them knowing their audience and saving money on advertising - why annoy people?

(Of course I hated Matrix: Reloaded and refuse to see Revolutions, so take that with a grain of salt)

I figure the hard core fans are all going to go, so perhaps they don't need to advertise it as much. (Advertising the same thing for 3 years would get tiring anyway.)

i think it could be: 1. they don't want to overhype the movie and/or 2. it's not necessary since most people would want to see how the story ends.
