i noticed, only recently, that i put a lot of sound effects into my emails & posts. this is also the way that i talk- lots of flailing arm movements and sound effects. most of my friends talk the same way (i once had a friend i could communicate with just through our random sounds), and we find this a point of bonding.

but as for the writing, i'm wondering if it's come about as i've become more involved in various online communities. perhaps my need to assert my RL personality is occasionally hindered by the digital page (e.g., i'm extremely sarcastic, and we all know how well sarcasm transmits online), and i have to find ways to get more of "me" across.

do any of you notice similar quirks in your writing style?

yes, actually. i think this horrible tendency i have to jam four billion parenthetical asides into each and every post i make is probably a pretty good representation of my speech and thought patterns.
