Date: 2004-07-20 08:56 am (UTC)what i'd recommend is a general sweep up: go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsupdate and see if you have stuff that needs updating. update your anti-virus definitions and download adaware and spybot through http://www.download.com and run those as well to get rid of spyware. i control pop-ups by using the google toolbar (plus now you have google whenever you want). my computer seems to run a bit smoother if it has its regular clean-up.
hope this helps.

Date: 2004-07-20 10:00 am (UTC)well, at least you have a lot of lj buddies who can recommend good virus scans once you can hook back up to the net. i fear, however, that sporadicity may be right - since i already did a basic virus scan last week that didn't turn up anything, if your computer can't handle word it may be the hardware that's to blame.
but whatever the problem is, i'll help out with fixing it the best i can!
