Jan. 5th, 2004 11:28 amsaw house of sand and fog yesterday, and i'm still thinking about it. i found certain elements of the plot to be somewhat convenient and predictable, but the characters themselves, and the actors who played them, were superb. it's definitely going to stick with me for a while.
speaking of somewhat predictable, i finished oryx & crake, and it was pretty much what i expected. not that i'm complaining, mind you - it was eminently readable and quite comprehensive in scope (the particular way in which human society may well collapse in on itself).
tabris bought me neal stephenson's cryptonomicon, as i've never read any of stephenson's work. i don't think i'll be able to blaze through it quite as rapidly as the atwood, but it's very intriguing so far.
i'm not looking forward to going back to work in a half an hour.
