apropros of a conversation had last night . . .

the chicago reader has announced that the pixes will be coming to town.

IN NOVEMBER.

am i wrong, or is it kinda weird to announce your show 8 months in advance?

the magnetic fields are playing a show in minneapolis the day before the chicago shows. tickets are $20, and they are still available on ticketmaster as of 5 minutes ago. if you want to go, i will drive you.

I think it's rather odd, but the Pixies are selling out super fast everywhere, so maybe they thought it was a good idea.

There was a 1/4-page ad in the Reader last week that was just a black box reading PIXIES at the top and ___________ at the bottom, as if to suggest there would be a date filling in that line at some future point.

I want to go. Oh man, but I so can't afford to put concert tickets on my credit card right now. I will anyway, but it will be very stupid of me.

Of course, I guess the chances are VERY HIGH that it will sell out before I actually get the Ticketmaster page to load.

It is weird to be selling them this much in advance, and I have no idea if the show will be any good or not, but I want to go. Oh man.

About the Magnetic Fields show, I know the comment wasn't directed at me, but is there a reason you'd drive up to MN instead of going to the shows here? The Chicago dates didn't all sell out already did they???

they did sell out, and tabris is a crazy fields fan, so it was either pay out the nose for scalped tix, or take a little road trip.

I don't think I want to go badly enough to road-trip it, but I was really hoping to go to the show. Especially now that I live so close to the Old Town School. :/

Must consult with roommate about this unfortunate situation.

i was seriously thinking about going this year - but one of my professors scheduled a make-up class on may 2, on which date i have to give a 20-minute presentation on language in monsoon wedding.

oh, well.
